Baltimore, Maryland native and current Oakland, California girl Jenise Michele (also known as “Ccep”) has been writing and performing since elementary school. An early love of fiction and poetry coupled with a theater background lends depth and power to her stage presence. Since merging writing and performance in 2005, Jenise Michele has made a name for herself in poetry circles, performing at various venues across the country. She represented San Diego at the 2011 Women of the World Poetry Slam (WOWps); was a member of the 2011 San Diego “Elevated!” Slam Team; has featured at several local colleges/universities in SoCal and NorCal, as well as several community-based events, including co-directing The Vagina Monologues for V-Day SDSU 2013. Jenise Michele is dedicated to using her voice as a catalyst for social and emotional change and is doing so through her new movement “Keep It Light, Love”.
